Morden Race Report

Manitoba Motocross Association: Race Report from Shadow Valley Raceway in Morden, Manitoba

photos and report by Evan Taylor

After another weekend of rain along with the cancellation of Round Two of the MMA Spring Series in Altona, Round Three took place on a sunny and slightly windy Sunday at Manitoba’s national track Shadow Valley Raceway.

Rio Stoesz came out swinging in Morden. The first year Intermediate took both moto wins in MX-2 Intermediate while a pair of fourths in Youth A were good for second overall.

Jordan Devloo seemed to be on rails this weekend. After making the jump to the 85cc 12-16 category Devloo put in second overall finishes behind Hayden Mc Kinny in both Supermini and 85cc 12-16.

A strong finish in the second moto helped Jim Frederickson take fourth overall in Vet Master.

Marcus Geisbrecht was unstoppable in Youth A and won both motos by large gaps over second.

Ellish Peters took second in both Ladies B races giving her second overall.

Randall Klassen made the jump up to the Intermediate ranks for Morden and quickly took a top five finish in the Plus 40 class.

Greg Hickman’s consistent results paid off as he earned a fourth place overall finish in the MX-2 Junior class.

Josh Pfrimmer took second overall in MX-1 Pro after winning the second moto. Pfrimmer backed that up in MX-2 Pro where his 4-3 moto scores gave him third overall.

Noah Jacobson topped the 50cc 4-6 races with a pair of moto wins.

In Youth B, James Freudenberg styled his way to the overall victory by means of a win in moto two to go along with his second place finish in the first moto.

Derek Anseeuw used his 5-1 finishes in MX-1 Intermediate to give him second overall behind Garrett Graboweski.

Curtis Barley took fourth overall in ATV Pro.

Cale Chapman took both ATV Beginner motos and the overall.

Steven Navitka took the overall in MX-2 Pro as well as control of the points lead in the series.

Jordan Gledhill (89) finished third in the 85cc 7-11 class while taking second in 65cc Pee Wee.

Brady Richardson used a second moto win to seal the overall in MX-2 Beginner.

Ryan Owens took first overall with two moto wins in MX-1 Beginner.

Dustin Konzelman and his new YZ450F seem to be agreeing with each other. Konzelman put in 2-1 moto scores in MX-1 Junior to take the overall as well as finishing fifth overall in Youth B with a pair of sixth places.

Stacy Groening was four for four on the day as he placed first in all four motos of the Plus 40 B and Vet Junior classes.

Matt Hamm put in 1-2 rides taking second overall in Plus 25 action.

Mark Sexton put in two solid motos in Supermini which was enough to earn him third overall. Sextons preformances in Morden also caught the eye of Manitoba’s suspension guru Roy Borton. Sexton was awarded with being the featured “Rider of the Week” on Borton’s website.

Beverly Bryce-Leger put in 2-3 moto scores to secure third overall in the ever-growing Ladies division aboard her new RMZ250.

Samuel Wilman stayed consistent all day in 50cc 7-8 action and earned himself a second place trophy.

A pair of moto wins showed Jaxton Unrau to the top of the 65cc Pee Wee B podium.

Richmond Morin and his KTM 150SX took third overall in MX-3 Junior.

Cole Dekoninck was uncontested for the win in either 85cc 7-11 moto giving him the overall on the day. Truly an inspiration; Dekoninck races in memory of his friend and fellow racer, Jesse Masterpool, by running his name and number on his Suzuki.

See you in Melita.
